Foreign Residents in Korea Can Register their Seal under Certification Of Seal Imprint Act(#인감증명법)

국내에 외국인등록을 한 외국인은 인감 증명법에 따라 인감을 등록할 수 있게 되었습니다.

The notary system in Korea is very different from other countries.

한국의 공증 시스템은 다른 국가와 많이 다릅니다.

In particular, it was inconvenient because it was not possible to register a seal and issue a seal certificate when someone needs a notarial signature, such as a power of attorney or contract.

특히 본인이 아닌 다른 사람이 위임장, 계약 등 서명공증을 하는 경우에 인감도장과 인감 증명서를 발행할 수 없어 불편했는데요.

However, due to the amendment of the Certification Of Seal Imprint Act(인감증명법), foreigners who have a Residence Card(ARC) can also register their personal seal at the district office having jurisdiction over the place of residence.

하지만 인감 증명법이 개정되어 외국인등록을 한 외국인도 거주지 관할 동사무소 등에서 인감을 등록할 수 있습니다.

Article 3 (Reporting, etc. Seal Imprints)(제3조 인감 신고 등)

③ If a person registered as a foreigner under the Immigration Act seeks to have his/her seal imprint certified, he/she shall register his/her seal imprint in advance with the certification agency having jurisdiction over the place in which he/she resides.

③ 「출입국관리법」에 따라 외국인등록을 한 사람이 인감증명을 받으려는 경우에는 미리 체류지를 관할하는 증명청에 인감을 신고하여야 한다.
