F-5 VISA (F5 비자)
(F-5 VISA): Permanent Residence (영주권)
1. Range of Activities:
Allowed to engage in any legal activities except the voting right.
2. Eligible Applicants:
A. (F5-1 visa) You are considered an adult under the 'Korean Civil Law', and you or your dependents have abilities to support the family financially. Also you must be well-behaved and have basic qualities, which the Minister of Justice finds appropriate to continuously stay in the Republic of Korea. You have stayed in Korea on a D-7 visa (Supervisory Intra-Company Transfer visa) to E-7 visa (Special Occupation visa) or on F-2 visa (Residential visa) for at least 5 years.
B. (F5-20 visa) You are a spouse or an underage child of a Korean national or of a F-5 visa (Permanent Residence status) holder who has stayed in Korea for at least 2 years. Also you have applied for the Permanent Resident status in accordance with Article 23 as you were born in Korea while your father or mother was a F-5 visa (Permanent Resident) at the time of your birth.
C. (F5-5 visa) You are a foreign investor who made an investment worth $500,000 and you have hired at least 5 Korean Nationals in accordance with the The 'Foreign Investment Promotion Act'.
D. (F5-6 visa) You have stayed in the Republic of Korea on a F-4 visa (Overseas Korean visa) for at least 2 years, and you are well-behaved and have basic qualities and ability to support yourself financially to live in Korea continuously, which are acknowledged by the Minister of Justice.
E. (F5-7 visa) You are an overseas Korean as defined in Article 2(2) of the 'Act on Immigration and Legal Status of Overseas Koreans', and you meet all requirements to acquire Korean nationality in accordance with the 'Nationality Act'.
F. (F5-8 visa) You fall under Subparagraph 27(F-2 visa (Residential Status) of Special Table 1 under the previous 'Enforcement decree of the Immigration Act' (referred to the Presidential Decree #17579 which was partly revised, promulgated and implemented before April 18th, 2002) while your ability to support yourself financially, good conducts and basic qualities are recognized by the Minister of Justice to live in Korea continuously.
G. You meet either of the conditions below and are recognized by the Minister of Justice:
1) (F5-9 visa) You have been conferred a Ph.D degree in foreign countries and have been hired by a Korean company at the time of your F-5 visa (Permanent Resident) application.
2) (F5-15 visa) You have been conferred a Ph.D degree after completing a graduate school in Korea.
H. (F5-10 visa) You have been conferred a bachelor's degree in particular fields designated (advanced technologies) by the
Minister of Justice and have a technical license who has stayed in Korea
for at least 3 years, and you work and get paid by a company designated by the Minister
of Justice when you apply for F-5 visa (Permanent Resident status) after obtaining a master's degree in Korea.
I. (F5-11 visa: Points based PR) You have an excellent talent in a particular area such as Science, Management, Education, Culture and Arts, Sports, which is recognized by the Minister of Justice.

J. (F5-12 visa) You have made a special contribution to Korea which is acknowledged by the Minister of Justice.
K. (F5-13 visa) You are age 60 or older receiving pensions, which is higher than the Minister of Justice has designated, from a foreign country.
L. (F5-14 visa) You are engaged in employment activities on an H-2 Working Visit visa while you meet all conditions from 1) to 3) of Subparagraph 24(G)(F-2 visa_Residential Status) of table. You are also recognized by the Minister of Justice considering the period of your employment, employment areas, characteristics of your industry, the current labor shortage situation and employment preferences of Korean nationals.
M. (F5-16 visa) You have been staying in Korea for at least 3 years on a F2-7 visa (Residential visa) while your ability to support yourself financially, basic qualities and good conducts are recognized by the Minister of Justice to live in Korea continuously.
N. (F5-17 visa) You have invested in Korea for at least 5 years after you have been given status which falls under subparagraph 24(J)(F-2 Residential Status) of special table. You, your spouse and child have basic qualities, ability to support yourself financially and good conducts which are recognized by the Minister of Justice to live in Korea continuously.
O. (F5-24 visa) You have been staying in Korea for at least 3 years on 11(C)(D8-4 visa, Corporate/Foreign Investor Status) of special table, attracted at least KRW 300 million and hired 2 Korean employees or more, and satisfy other qualifications designated by the Minister of Justice.
P. (F5-21 visa) You have invested at least the amount prescribed and announced by the Minister of
Justice of Korea on a condition that you will maintain the investment for at least 5
years and you have met the qualifications prescribed by the Minister such as good
behavior.
